to Santa Barbara Quilting Retreats in 2009!
Andi Perejda is an award winning quilt maker, teacher and NQA certified Quilt Judge. A member of Fibervision a group of California artists who promote artistic creation and exploration in fiber art, she has been featured on Simply Quilts (HGTV) with her innovative quilt design “Circle of Illusion” pictured below. She is well known for her hand quilting and hand appliqué however her interests are not limited to these. She says that quilt making is a fascination, and insuppressible urge, perhaps an obsession. One of the things she loves about making quilts is sharing them with others and realizing that she communicated something that caused them to pause for a moment and consider. Class participants will design their own unique dogwood blossom quilt, using either Andi’s original drawings or personal photos. This is not a beginning appliqué class. Andi will use and demonstrate needle turn appliqué techniques, such as unitized construction, needed to hand stitch blossoms and branches. Fabric painting and coloring, beading and ruching will be taught. Design principles needed to create a beautiful composition will be discusses and put into use.
