The Art
Quilter, “A creative, joyous and spontaneous journey that
touches the heart and soul through exploring texture, color and
design. Our creations explore and express our feelings and ideas
through our quilted images.”
Wendy’s
words tell us what a dedicated and inspired teacher we will experience
when we share a retreat with her. She will encourage us to “Awaken
the Art Quilter Within.”
You have
explored a variety of traditional quilting patterns and you are
comfortable with machine quilting. Now, you are seeking new and
original design challenges.
It’s
time to discover the ABC’S of art quilts. With the use of
fusing, rough-edge appliqué’, embellishing, couching,
colloguing, free motion machine embroidery and free motion machine
quilting techniques, you will begin the process of creating your
own simple art quilts. We will explore simple design concepts
and experiment with techniques that add more texture to your work.
Ample workshop time will be devoted to stitching and exploring
the new techniques you will be learning. Students will want to
be familiar with the use of a darning foot and be comfortable
with the way your machine works.
