I
can’t wait for March, when Yvonne Porcella will come to
Santa Barbara to teach her Flexible Fusible Fantasy Fabric Pictures
Quilting Retreat, March 7-10, 2008! Yvonne’s work
makes me so happy and her colors really get my creative juices
flowing. She is a talented and great teacher. I love going to
her website to check out the latest. Look in her FACES gallery
and you will get some ideas of what will be possible for you.
Make a wall hanging or a tote bag? Bring pictures of flowers from
your garden, favorite landscaping book or anything else that inspires
you and bring along your imagination for the Fabulous Face Block
you want to design.
Yvonne
is multi-talented and has been creating in the quilting world
since 1962, her work is featured in major exhibitions, art gallery
and major quilt exhibits. She has written 8 books about clothing
and quilting. She was inducted into the Quilters Hall of Fame
in Marion, Indiana in 1998. She was also the 5th recipient of
the Silver Star Award at Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas. She
is an amazing woman.
I
promise that we will have a great deal of fun. Yvonne says we
will use fusible web to bond cotton fabrics to freely cut shapes
to make a 22” block depicting a fantasy floral still life
and or fabulous face or both. Students will design the block,
edge elements with machine stitching, complete as quilted panels
or tote bags in class. Everyone is encouraged to be flexible and
creative in this class. We will have time to get acquainted, have
some fabulous food, enjoy and wine and cheese night and meet some
great people.
