Our first retreat presenter in 2007 is Robbi Joy Eklow, www.robbieklow.com. Robbi is an amazing art quilter and will be joining us from Illinois. I know that many of you know Robbi from her column in Quilting Arts Magazine, “the Goddess of the Last Minute”. She is a wonderful writer and always makes me laugh and inspires me when I read her column. She is the author of “Free Expressions” published in 2006 a book that helps you perfect your skills for fused appliqué, free-motion quilting and innovative finishing and dyeing your own fabric. Robbi will share her skills with us at the retreat (oh she won’t cover dyeing fabric, sorry) Robbi will also be the featured artist at this year’s Harvest of Color, sponsored by Coastal Quilters of Santa Barbara. www.coastalquilters.org This show will be September 30 and October 1st at Earl Warren Showgrounds.

Please register for Robbi's retreat at www.SantaBarbaraQuilting.com. Robbie will be presenting her retreat at the Day’s Inn in Buellton. The classroom is awesome and we have so many fun things planned for you. Lots of delicious catered food, a Bus trip to the Treasure Hunt in Carpinteria, with a Wine and Cheese Party Shopping Night, (yes I think Kathiee the new owner of the TH will be offering us some fun things on that night) followed by dinner at Senor Frog’s for wonderful mexican food, prize drawings each day and fun snacks and treats and of course all of the great information Robbi is going to give us. I cannot wait.

Our second presenter is Mickey Depre who also hails from Illinois and is the author of “Garden Whimsey” She is going to do a complete non-sewing retreat teaching us so many wonderful things. You don’t need to bring your machine, I will provide a few machines for the little sewing we will do.

My Grandma was a Cowgirl by Mary Lou Weidman

In Kurt Vonenegut’s MIT Graduation Speech he gives tips for the future, and they always make me appreciate what I have. Wear sunscreen and do one thing everyday that scares you. Don’t be reckless with other peoples hearts, don’t put up with people who are reckless with yours. Floss. Remember the compliments you receive and forget the insults. Keep your old love letters and throw away your bank statements. Stretch. Enjoy your body. Use it every way you can. Don’t be afraid of it or of what other people think of it. It’s the greatest instrument you will ever own. Last but not least Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but in your living room.

I love customer service, my Mission Statement is to create the best atmosphere and take the best care of you I possible can while you are with me. I want you to have fun, learn and enjoy the company of other folks with the same interest that you have.

Thank you for reading this! I really look forward to meeting you in person at a retreat in the future. Please email me if I can answer any questions for you.
